Conroy was born in Westbury, New York, into an Irish Catholic family, and would be 67 years old as of 2023. He moved to Westport, Connecticut, when he was 11 years old.

He relocated to New York City in 1973 after receiving a full scholarship to study Drama at Juilliard under the tutelage of Actor John Houseman.

He portrayed Batman in various animated spinoff projects set in the DC Animated Universe (DCAU).
