Van Ness had been on vacation with her family in Florida when she fell ill and was hospitalized on Thursday, ultimately passing away on Monday.

Lesley has worked in talent acquisition for the media industry for over 8 years.

She served as the Director of Talent Acquisition at Gray Television, looking after current job openings across the company’s 91 television markets.

Before joining Gray Television, she worked at Quincy Media for 5 years as a Talent Acquisition Specialist.

While at Quincy Media, Lesley was responsible for recruiting talent for the company’s operations in Quincy, IL.

Before her career in talent acquisition, she worked as a News Anchor at WGEM TV in Quincy, IL, for 13 years.

She started as a reporter and worked up to become the weekday evening anchor for the 5, 6, and 10 pm newscasts while also producing daily.

With deep sadness, everyone mourns the passing of Lesley Swick Van Ness, a hardworking and dedicated employee who will be deeply missed.

The funeral service of Lesley Swick Van Ness will be held on April 17 at St. John’s Anglican Parish, followed by her burial at Woodland Cemetery, Quincy.

Hansen-Spear Funeral Directors will be managing the arrangements. No visitation is scheduled, but family and friends can attend her service.

Herald-Whig published the obituary from Apr. 11 to Apr. 12, 2023. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests planting trees in memory of Lesley.
