Chesapeake Walmart Shooting: What Happened?
Six people were killed in a Virginia Walmart, and five have been identified. On Tuesday night (November 22), they were killed after the store manager opened fire before committing suicide.
According to a Wednesday news release from the City of Chesapeake, the five deceased victims include Kellie Pyle, Randall Blevins, Tyneka Johnson, Lorenzo Gamble and Brian Pendleton.
Authorities are not naming the last departed victim, a 16-year-old boy, since he was a minor. Five or six victims were staff members of Walmart, a Company spokesperson said.
The shooter, identified by the city as Andre Bing, 31, was “equipped with one handgun and had many magazines,” the statement read earlier on Wednesday.
The Company confirmed that Andre Bing was an “overnight team lead” and had been employed by Walmart since 2010.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are digging into the shooter’s background for information on what could have motivated him to attack.
“Law enforcement will do what they can, and I promise you, more information will follow,” Mayor of Chesapeake Rick West stated in a video message posted Wednesday evening.
Authorities have requested everyone to pray for the family and friends of the community members who have been lost.
“The City of Chesapeake has always been known as the ‘City That Cares,’ and we need it now more than ever,” a press release said.
