Madalynn Stewart death cause was linked to the accident that happened on July 21, 2023. Stewart drove the car that failed to stop at a stop sign when it entered Highway 34 from 190th Street in Afton around 10:30 pm.
The car was struck by a pickup truck, and both vehicles went into a trench. Halsie Lynn Barnes was pronounced dead at the scene, and Ella Leonard died at the hospital on July 23.
The driver, Stewart, was transported by Mercy Helicopter to Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. Unfortunately, she couldn’t be saved and died, leaving everyone shattered.
The fourth passenger, named Abigail Barnes, is at Methodist Hospital in Des Moines and was rushed into surgery upon arrival to repair internal bleeding.
It has been said that she suffered many injuries, including large cuts to the face, many skull fractures and eight broken ribs. Abigail is noted to be a Mount Ayr graduate attending Graceland University, where she even plays softball.
