Madison “Maddie” Russo is an Iowa woman who has recently been in the news for her false cancer claims.
The Iowa woman speaker about her situation in several podcasts and news outlets such as the North Scott Press newspaper.
Additionally, she had also set up a GoFundMe page claiming to use the donation to cure her cancer.
However, after being proven to have lied about the disease, she is being charged with theft.
The 19-year-old allegedly raised more than $37,000 through the crowdfunding platform.
Apart from GoFundMe, Maddie also allegedly raised money from private donations and several non-profit organizations.
Does Maddie Russo Really Have Pancreatic Cancer?
Maddie Russo pancreatic cancer claim has been proven to be a scam.
Russo wrote on social media that she suffered from acute lymphoblastic leukemia and stage 2 pancreatic cancer.
Additionally, Russo claimed to have a tumor wrapped around her spine the size of a football.
Apart from social media, the 19-year-old also shared her story with news outlets, seeking help and donation from people.
Everything the Iowa woman claimed about her being a cancer patient turned out to be a huge scam for money.
She was active on her Facebook and talked about the situation in several outlets, seeking sympathy and money.

Maddie Russo GoFundMe Scandal
Maddie Russo pulled off a huge scandal at the crowdfunding online service GoFundMe.
Elderidge Police Department accused Maddie of raising over $37,303 from more than 400 donors through GoFundMe.
Her story was picked up on social media and highlighted by the North Scott Press newspaper in an October 2022 edition, where she gave her cancer story.
The 21-year-old also openly discussed her cancer journey as a guest speaker at The National Pancreatic Foundation in Chicago, St Ambrose University.
She also talked about her situation on a podcast for Project Purple online, garnering sympathy from several Americans.
Maddie Russo Arrested
Earlier, Elderidge Police Department released a statement regarding the arrest of Maddie Russo.
The statement read that the Elderidge PD was made aware of the scandal on January 11, 2023.
The police did not find any medical records showing Madison having been diagnosed with any kind of cancer tumor from any medical facilities within the surrounding cities.
Hence, on January 23, 2023, the Elderidge Police arrested Madison from St. Ambrose University in Davenport for theft utilizing deception, which was a class C felony.
The police also conducted a search warrant at her residence in Bettendorf, Iowa, where they found items of evidentiary value.
In addition to the GoFundMe donation, Russo also accepted private donations from non-profit organizations, businesses, school districts, and private citizens.
The 19-year-old was booked in the Scott County Jail and held on a $10,000 cash-only bond. She is set for arraignment on February 23, 2023.
