Mother Louise and father Barry Viney gave birth to Mary and Barrie -Louise Cashman in Tasmania on March 17, 1953. Barrie, Mary-Louise’s brother, had been born in the previous two years.

According to UNSW, she was a member of the World Health Organization’s Expert Advisory Panel for the Health Emergencies Program’s Preparedness, Readiness, and Response to COVID-19.

Professor Mary-Louise McLaws, an epidemiologist from UNSW, spoke on Wednesday, February 10, 2021, to the National Press Club of Australia in Canberra. 

She also participated in the COVID Infection Prevention and Control taskforce of the NSW Clinical Excellence Commission.
