In her memoir named Always Young and Restless: My Life On and Off America’s #1 Daytime Drama, Melody said that she was born to a teenage mother who was still in high school.
So, during that time, she always felt disconnected from her mother. Due to that, Scott mainly lived with her grandmother. In the memoir, Melody said her grandmother’s moods were unpredictable and were terrified of her.
However, Melody was pushed by her grandmother to get engaged in the acting industry. Not only that, but she admitted to being sexually abused by various men in the industry.
Melody Thomas Scott Opens Up About Traumatic Childhood
As mentioned earlier, Scott had a traumatic childhood. During that time, she dealt with anxiety disorder, panic disorder, and agoraphobia.
While talking with PEOPLE, Melody said she had not forgiven her grandmother for how she turned a blind eye to the sexual abuse that was going on.
She also believes that her late grandmother was dealing with her own mental health problems. The Actor speculated that her grandmother could have a personality disorder or a mood disorder.
Now, Melody has moved on from all this and is living a happy life. She tied the knot with Edward J. Scott and is the mother of three children.
