Memphis Depay Religion: Is He Christian Or Muslim?

Memphis Depay is Christian. He says he finds “inner peace” by praying and reading Bible.

The FC Barcelona striker talks openly about his Christain faith on social media and in interviews.

Memphis has always been vocal about his views on the importance of his Christian faith. “Always count on God; he’s done miracles on me,” Memphis wrote on Twitter after one of his games.

The Dutch footballer shares that he used to go to church in Moordrecht with his family as a kid. Also, his mother used to read to him from the Bible before he went to sleep.

Memphis often points to the sky in his goal and win celebrations and writes on social media, “all the glory to God.”

Speaking in interviews, he stresses the importance of faith in his life and career. “I can rely on my faith, on God, on my prayers; that’s how I live my life.”

Memphis had tough few years, and it was in Lyon that his career took off. His faith helped him get through it all, although it was difficult initially. 

In the first season, he played very few minutes but later overcame the obstacles and obtained a place in the starting eleven. He demonstrated his adapting ability by scoring 22 goals and providing several assists.

Memphis is also thankful to God for the talent he has. Besides, he believes in giving back to the community.

He created a foundation in Ghana that focuses on helping blind and deaf children. 

When he went to the country after a long time, he felt an immediate connection with the people. He wished to give something back to the land of his ancestors. 

Meet Memphis Depay Parents And Family

Memphis Depay was born in the South Holland village of Moordrecht, Netherlands.

He is of mixed ethnicity with a Dutch mother, Cora Schensema, and a Ghanaian Father, Dennis Depay.

The relationship between his parents fell apart, and his dad walked out on the family when he was four.

Memphis grew up with his mom and grandparents after his dad’s abandonment, a harrowing experience for him.

It appears that Memphis is not on good terms with his dad. He has dropped his last name since 2012 and once stated, “Do not call me Depay; call me Memphis.”

In June 2017, social media posts showed Memphis engaged to Lori Harvey. She is the youngest daughter of American television personality and comedian Steve Harvey.

However, it did not work out. Their engagement has been called off, and the relationship has ended.

According to Who’s Dated Who, Memphis has also been in relationships with Chloe Bailey (2020 to 2021) and Karrueche Tran (2015).
