Micah Parrish was born to his father, Emanuel, and mother, whose name is yet to be made public. Micah grew up with his family in Detroit, Michigan.

The skilled basketball player attended River Rouge High School in his hometown. Parrish spent a post-graduate year (2019-2020) at Hillcrest Preparation in Phoenix, Arizona.

Throughout his four years at River Rouge High, Micah’s teams had an overall record of 94-12, including 33-2 in Michigan Metro League competition.

Micah Parrish: “Doubted My Whole Life”
Micah Parrish scored the key basket against the College of Charleston during their opening NCAA Tournament game in Orlando.
He also led his team with 16 points in the 75-52 win against Furman on 1 April 2023. But the skilled player revealed one shocking truth. He said people doubted his whole life.
People thought he was good, but this was his level. Micah added when he got to Division I at his previous college, Oakland University, it was, “oh, he’s good, but is he going to play? Then again, when he began playing, people questioned if he would start.
Micah Parrish ended up starting 57 games. The young athlete said he is used to being doubted. “I am aware of my abilities. I understand why I’m here and what I need to do. I work hard. Hard work will always win out, in my opinion,” said Parrish in an interview.
Micah Parrish Declined Michigan State Offer
The former star forward for Oakland transferred to San Diego State after declining the offer of Michigan State in early 2022.
According to Emanuel Parrish, the father of Micah Parrish, the choice was based on San Diego State’s coaching history.
In the 1980s, when Steve Fisher led the Wolverines to the 1989 national championship, Emanuel was a devoted Michigan supporter.
From 1999 to 2017, Fisher served as the head coach of San Diego State. He was followed by Brian Dutcher, a member of Fisher’s coaching staff at Michigan.
