Micah is one of the best American basketball coaches. He is also a former college basketball player.
The talented coach began his coaching career in 1999. Since then, he has worked with seven teams as their assistant coach.
He also has been serving as the head coach of the Penn State Nittany Lions basketball team since 2021.

Micah Shrewsberry is healthy. Fortunately, he doesn’t have any health issues.
Ending a weeks-long process, Notre Dame Fighting Irish is finalizing a deal to make Micah Shrewsberry the next head coach of its men’s basketball team.
Penn State’s head coach also reportedly decided Wednesday morning to accept the Irish’s seven-year contract. He left an enticing contract upgrade from Penn States on the table.
Notre Dame will be Shrewesberry’s second stop as a head coach. Also, he is the first black head coach in the history of University of Notre Dame’s men’s basketball team.
Shrewsberry assisted in Penn State’s first NCAA tournament participation since 2011 this season. Before making a run to the Big Ten tournament championship game, where they lost to Purdue, they won five of their final six regular-season contests.
In the NCAA tournament, Nittany Lions was given a 10-seed, but they defeated 7-seed Texas A&M in the first round before losing to 2-seed Texas in the next round.
Also, Penn State finished 23-14 overall, 10-10 in the Big Ten.
Why Is Micah Shrewsberry Joining Notre Dame?
Micah Shrewsberry joining Notre Dame, will be moving back to his hometown and the state where he grew up and began his coaching career.
The 46-year-old was born and raised in Indianapolis. He attended Hanover College before working as an assistant at Wabash College and DePauw University.
He spent two seasons at Indiana University South Bend as head coach.
Shrewsberry joined the Butler staff of Brad Stevens in 2007, transferred to the Purdue staff of Matt Painter, and then rejoined Stevens at the Boston Celtics.
Before accepting the position at Penn State in 2021, he returned to school and worked as Painter’s assistant for two seasons.
Shrewsberry is regarded as one of the best offensive minds in college basketball.
He helped Purdue build consistently strong offenses before helping Penn State create the No. 13-ranked offense in the country in terms of adjusted efficiency this season.
Micah takes over at Notre Dame’s Mike Brey, who made his resignation from the position known in January after 23 seasons in charge.
Micah Shrewsberry Salary At Notre Dame
As reported by On3, Penn State offered Micah Shrewsberry a lucrative pay rise and significant extension.
Shrewsberry had a $4 million buyout, staring at a considerable extension and raise at Penn State that would have doubled his salary.
However, Notre Dame didn’t let money get in the way of landing its top target.
Although the specific details about the coach’s salary have not been made public, his average annual salary is expected to be over $4 million. He is accepting seven years of the contract of the team.
