The writer reportedly spent 47 days on a ventilator in ICU as he struggled to recover from the illness. His doctor said that he had a 50/50 chance of survival.
In an appearance on Lorraine, the author disclosed that hearing his son’s voice woke him up. He said his wife, Emma-Louise Williams, played recordings of their children in his early through her phone.
His son’s voice calling “hi, dad” woke him. The author came home back in June of the same year. It has been two years since he returned.
