Mike Lindell’s drug addiction started in the late 1980s when he was working as a carpet cleaner and a bartender.

He said he used drugs to cope with stress and anxiety. He also had several failed business ventures and personal problems that contributed to his substance abuse.

He said he was on a “parallel railroad track” of being an addict and an entrepreneur. He started selling pillows at a mall kiosk in 2005, but he was still using drugs until 2009.

He said he once stayed awake for 19 consecutive days while on crack cocaine. Lindell’s addiction also affected his family and relationships.

He divorced twice and lost custody of his four children. He also faced legal troubles, such as being arrested for theft and assault.

He also became a born-again Christian and a staunch supporter of Trump, whom he met in 2016. Lindell has also faced some health-related lawsuits over the years.

In 2016, he settled a lawsuit with California officials who accused him of making false claims that his pillows could cure various ailments, such as fibromyalgia, restless leg syndrome, and sleep apnea. He agreed to pay $1 million in civil penalties and donate $100,000 to homeless shelters.

In 2020, Lindell promoted oleandrin, a toxic substance derived from oleander plants, as a cure for COVID-19. He claimed he had taken it himself and that it was “the miracle of all time.”

However, there is no scientific evidence that oleandrin is effective or safe for treating COVID-19.
