Miles Pfeffer has been arrested for allegedly killing a Temple University Police officer on Saturday night in North Philadelphia.

Authorities from the federal and state levels surrounded the mother’s Buckingham Township, Bucks County home early on Sunday morning. They arrested Pfeffer, 18, on suspicion of killing Temple University Police Officer Christopher Fitzgerald the previous evening.

Miles Pfeffer was arrested after it was reported that he killed a Temple University Police officer on Saturday night in North Philadelphia.

A Police affidavit contends that Pfeffer shot the 31-year-old officer near 17th Street and Montgomery Avenue just after 7:12 pm Saturday. Christopher was shot multiple times in the face and head by the suspect after he had already been knocked to the ground.

The suspect then attempted to steal Fitzgerald’s gun and searched his pockets. The events were documented on video.

According to the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office, Fitzgerald had chased after Pfeffer while investigating a possible crime near the edge of Temple’s campus. It was unclear what led to that initial encounter.

Shortly after Pfeffer shot Fitzgerald, Police said he stole a man’s Infiniti Q60 at gunpoint.

Temple Officer Left Behind His Wife And Kids

Temple University has identified the deceased officer as 31-year-old Christopher Fitzgerald, who is survived by his wife, four children, and parents.

At 7:27 pm, Fitzgerald, a Father of four and an enthusiastic runner was declared dead. He was the first Temple University policeman to pass away while performing his duties.

Fitzgerald’s family gathered around a temporary memorial at Bouvier Street and Montgomery Avenue on Sunday afternoon. Juan Marrero Jr., Fitzgerald’s cousin, thought back on the life of the man he regarded as a big brother down the block from where Fitzgerald had been murdered less than twenty-four hours earlier.

Fitzgerald’s parents, according to Marrero, are both law enforcement personnel. Joel Fitzgerald, Christopher’s Father, served in high-profile positions after 17 years with the Philadelphia Police Department, including in Allentown, where Christopher had worked as a corrections officer at the age of 19.

Charges against Pfeffer include homicide, the ****** of a law enforcement officer, robbery, and carjacking. Bail is not an option for him.

Miles was taken into custody using Fitzgerald’s handcuffs, a custom kept alive by law enforcement for fallen officers.

According to the affidavit, Pfeffer was later picked up by his mother on Ridge Avenue and driven back to Bucks County. According to the document, Pfeffer’s brother was with him on Saturday night and assisted Police in identifying Pfeffer as the shooter.
