It is not a simple news story that you hear every day. On Wednesday, police reported that two people, aged 41 and 36, were ran over by a utility vehicle in North Nowra.

Despite being treated by neighbors and also paramedics, both men succumbed to their wounds and died at the scene.

According to ABC News, Nathan Bernhard and the two people who died had intaken alcohol on the afternoon of the faithful day. 

Then, the accused, Mr. Nathan attempted to finish off a three-point turn. But unfortunately, the two folks were on the road, lying down at 7:15 pm.

However, there are no reports of whether all of them were drinking buddies or not. Also, it is not sure why the two men decided to lie on the road in the very first place.

Nevertheless, two precious lives were cut short because of some foolish decisions.

What Happened At The Bail Hearing? 

Nathan was charged with mid-range drink driving, negligent driving occasioning *****, driving in a dangerous manner, and dangerous driving occasioning *****.

Well, things didn’t go out as planned for Nathan. Ray Kingston, the police prosecutor, stated that Nathan had ‘no need’ to drive under the influence as he lived just 1.4 kilometers away from where the accident occurred.

So, the police were against the bail and also objected. In addition, it was not the first time Nathan had been convicted.

In 2017 too, Nathan was caught in high-range drink driving. Not just that, he had also served two rigorous correction orders on drug charges.

In his defense, Nathan’s lawyer Brett Ford claimed that his client had never been in custody previously. He further added that Nathan was a boilermaker and had resided in the area for a couple of years with his two sons. 

Plus, Brett also voiced that the now-dead men were in an unexpected position.

It was a rollercoaster of emotions for Nathan. He probably must have thought that he would be held in custody. However, Magistrate Geraldine Beattie’s were different.

Ms. Beattie’s views were that the community’s concerns could be eased and granted him bail.

After hearing that, Nathan cried. He was supported by his brother and partner in the court. As a bail condition, Nathan is prohibited from driving and is due to return again in August.
