Many people criticized Khan, labeled him a hypocrite, and denounced his attempt to intimidate women. Others stood up for him.
He denied any wrongdoings, and as is customary in rape culture, the victims—including other women—were given more blame than he did.
Nouman Ali Khan Accused Of Spiritual Abuse
Khan was charged with spiritual abuse and “luring women into sexual relationships disguised as secret marriages” following a sexting incident in September 2017.
Considering that he had been divorced for two years, Khan retorted that the disclosed text messages were “between consensual adults” and that the women involved were potential brides.
The conduct Khan engaged in was unbecoming of a believer, let alone someone who teaches about the Holy Qur’an.”
According to a joint statement from six famous Muslim clerics and academics led by imam Mohamed Magid, who launched their investigation into the claims.
