It’s difficult to say what occurred to Mazraoui to require a replacement. In an earlier effort at a diving header, he crashed forcefully on the ground and indicated to his pelvis as he sought to get up.

He eventually sat down on the field and requested to be replaced, indicating that it was too much for him.

In 11 games with Bayern Munich this season, Mazraoui has three assists and two shots, one of which was on target against Croatia on Wednesday.

They were put in Group F with Belgium, Canada, and Croatia, meaning they will face off against two of the 2018 semifinalists so it won’t be easy.
