Olivia Pratt Korbel Parents: Father John Francis Pratt And Mother Cheryl Korbel
Olivia Pratt Korbel, who was murdered in her home on the evening of August 22, 2022, was raised by her parents, John Francis Pratt and Cheryl Korbel.
Cheryl Korbel, her mother, was 46 years old when the incident occurred. Olivia, who resided in Liverpool, North West England, had an older sibling and sister.
Following Thomas Cashman’s sentencing, there were gasps and sobs in the courtroom. The mother of Olivia Pratt Korbel, Cheryl Korbel, subsequently described her feelings as “ecstatic.”
The distraught mother attended court daily throughout the trial’s nearly four weeks. Ms. Korbel walked out of Manchester Crown Court holding a pink teddy animal.
Merseyside Police stated that Cashman was “not worthy of wandering the streets.”
Monday will see the sentencing of Thomas, who was also found guilty of injuring Ms. Korbel, attempting to kill Joseph Nee, and having weapons that imperil life.
After the hearing, Cashman allegedly started crying in the dock. The guilty criminal could receive at least 30 years when he is sentenced on Monday.
Details On This Case
Pratt-Korbel’s mother, Cheryl Korbel, who lives in Kingsheath Avenue, Dovecot, heard a disturbance around 10 o’clock on August 22, 2022, and opened her front door with Pratt-Korbel in tow.
One of two men running from an unidentified gunman, Joseph Nee, a 35-year-old “well-established organized crime group member,” tried to force his way into her House.
The shooter, covered in a balaclava and a black jacket, neared the home and opened Fire four times as Nee tried to enter. One of the shots entered Pratt-Korbel’s torso through Cheryl’s wrist.
The assault was directed at Nee, a convicted drug dealer and burglar. Halfway through his term in 2021, he was granted a license-based release.
The attack took place while Pratt-Korbel’s brothers were upstairs in the home. Pratt-Korbel was subsequently pronounced dead at Liverpool’s Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.
Merseyside Police knew that Nee had stepped away from Pratt-Korbel and her mother to board a black Audi car used as an escape vehicle.
He was taken into custody the following day for violating the terms of his license and sent back to jail. The murder was referred to as a “horrific, senseless shooting” by Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
Priti Patel, the home secretary, visited the shooting scene and promised more funding for Merseyside Police to cut down on crime and weapons.
Jürgen Klopp, the manager of Liverpool F.C., described the murder as “such a tragedy” and added, “If we can help, we will.”
In their first game following the shooting, Liverpool paid homage to Olivia Pratt-Korbel during their match against Bournemouth.
The supporters of both sides paid tribute to her during the ninth minute of a later game between Liverpool and Everton.
