The Patrick Reed scandal has been taking over the world of golf lately. Was the golfer caught red-handed? Let’s find out more about the matter.

Patrick Reed is a professional golfer who is currently the world’s number 6 in the ranking.

Reed started his golf career at the University of Georgia in Athens in 2008. However, he left Georgia after a misdemeanor charge and enrolled at Augusta State University.

A bright prospect in golf, Reed helped Augusta State earn consecutive NCAA Division I titles in 2010 and 2011.

He has won nine tournaments on the PGA Tour, including the 2018 Masters Tournament and two World Golf Championships.

Patrick Reed Scandal- Caught Cheating Red Handed

Patrick Reed scandal started during his college days, as he had been accused of cheating and theft.

Author Shane Ryan wrote about Reed’s misdemeanor in his book titled, “Slaying the Tiger: A Year Inside the Ropes on the New PGA Tour.”

In the book, Shane writes about how Reed cheated in a qualifying round at Georgia and stole from his teammates, leading to him leaving for Augusta State.

The American golfer was a first-year student at the University of Georgia when, during a qualification round for a competition, he struck a ball far into the rough.

However, allegedly another ball was closer to the fairway. Reed then prepared to hit the other ball instead of the original, leading to teammates confronting him.

Patrick quickly dismissed that he did not know that the ball was different. However, the guys did not buy his claims.

The 32-year-old still strongly denies cheating when asked about the incident. Nevertheless, the cheating story of his college days is confirmed by various people.

Former college friends describe Reed as brash, arrogant, unapologetic, and abrasive. He never seemed to care about the consequences of his actions.

Moreover, Reed was also in the middle of a theft allegation when items and $400 cash went missing from the locker room.

Reed’s run-ins with teammates and his two arrests for intoxication are pretty popular in the golf world.

The 32-year-old was also heavily scrutinized for a 2019 Hero World Challenge infraction. He allegedly moved sand behind his ball twice in a waste area.

Addressing the issue, Reed claimed that he had not noticed the movement and cited the camera and his angle for the lack of realization.

He received heavy criticism from commentators and players for his actions.
