Paulo Bento could miss a match against his native Portugal after Anthony Taylor showed him a red card this Monday.
Paulo Bento is a former Portuguese player and current South Korean national team manager.
He was a defensive midfielder who played for two of the top three teams in his nation, amassing 284 matches and 16 goals in the Primeira Liga over 11 seasons.
His key strengths were tackling and work ethic. He participated in the World Cup of 2002 and the Euro 2000 for Portugal.
Bento began his coaching career in 2005, effectively managing Sporting CP for four years and four months while guiding the national squad in two significant championships.

Referee Anthony Taylor issued head coach Bento a red card for raising his voice following South Korea’s 3-2 defeat to Ghana in a Group H match of the FIFA World Cup 2022 on Monday.
Even though South Korea lost, there was optimism because there were ten additional minutes at the end of the second half.
In the last seconds of the second half’s extra time, South Korea, the team one goal behind, received a corner.

Bento immediately approached Taylor to voice his disagreement with the choice, which did not sit well with the English official. As a result, Taylor cautioned Bento with a straight red card.
Bento also received a warning and a yellow card in South Korea’s first game against Uruguay.

Bento’s Contract With South Korea Included FIFA World Cup 2022
Bento was appointed manager of the South Korean national team on August 17, 2018, & his contract included the 2022 World Cup.
The team lost to eventual champions Qatar 1-0 in the quarterfinals of the 2019 AFC Asian Cup in the United Arab Emirates.
After defeating Japan 1-0, Bento guided his squad to the 2019 EAFF E-1 Football Championship. This was their third tournament victory and second straight triumph against those opponents.
The Bento-led Taegeuk Warriors qualified for the nation’s tenth straight World Cup on February 1, 2022, with a 2-0 victory away against Syria.
He received a booking for dissent against Uruguay in the group stage on November 23 at the finals in Qatar, which ended in a scoreless draw.

Paulo Bento Served As Portugal’s Manager Before Managing South Korea
Bento was appointed as Portugal’s manager as Queiroz’s replacement on September 20, 2010, after the coach was fired due to a shaky start to the Euro 2012 qualifying Campaign.

After losing 0-1 to Albania at home to start the Euro 2016 qualifying series on September 11, 2014, the Portuguese Football Federation announced Bento had been fired.
