Before leading his party into power in the state election 2022, he served as the leader of the Opposition from 2018 to that point.

The politician was also “one of those kids involved in lots of things,” a “popular lad,” and had a “magnetic personality that appealed to teachers and students alike,” according to Daw.

Additionally, the leader of Labor is portrayed as a typical Australian throughout the election campaign as a dad who enjoys gardening on the weekends and playing soccer.

The resignations of Mr. Snelling and Mr. Kenyon from the party served as a signal to Labor’s influential Catholic Right group, which Mr. Malinauskas heads, that the party needed to do more to represent the faction’s views.

In line with the views of Liberal conservatives, Mr. Snelling expressed alarm over the growing “restrictions on religious freedom” in Australia.

Moreover, when Mr. Farrell left to become a senator in 2008 at the age of 27, Mr. Malinauskas took over as state secretary, replacing then-senator Linda Kirk, who disregarded the SDA’s Catholic traditions by supporting the morning-after abortion pill.

Mr. Malinauskas said his opinions would be “considered socially conservative” when asked about topics including gay marriage, stem-cell research, euthanasia, and abortion.
