Rachael Adams is an American indoor volleyball player and an Olympic athlete who is a middle blocker for the USA Women’s National Volleyball team.

The Olympian is married to an American basketball player, Alex Kirk. Racheal Adams and her husband Alex tied the knot on June 9, 2022.

Her husband is an American expatriate basketball player in Japan and currently plays as the center for Alvark Tokyo, a Japanese basketball team competing in the B.League.

Rachel Adams and her husband, Alex Kirk, married after four years of dating. Their wedding ceremony took place at the beautiful Acre Resort in Mexico.

Rachael’s husband proposed to her in July 2019 during a regular evening walk. She initially planned to marry in the summer of 2021, but she had to push her plans due to the pandemic.

When the star player and her husband finally got married in June 2022, they created a website dedicated to their wedding activities for their guests.

The Olympic medalist’s husband, Alex Ryan Kirk, was born on November 14, 1991, to Alan Kirk and Patsy Kirk. He was brought up in Los Alamos, Mexico, with his younger sister, Erin Kirk, a farmer’s insurance agent in New Mexico.

Alex was not drafted in the 2014 NBA draft but later joined the Cleveland Cavaliers for the 2014 NBA Summer League. Last, he was traded to the New York Knicks in 2015. However, the team decided to let him go after only two days.

The volleyball champion’s husband has played for basketball clubs worldwide, including Italy, Japan, Turkey, and China.

From 2017 onwards, he has been with the Japanese B League team Alvark Tokyo and has won two B League championships with the team. He currently plays under the number 53.

Since Kirk has been living in Japan for five years, he can read and write a little in Japanese. The basketball player also interacts a lot with Japanese social media. At times, he also tweets and posts Instagram captions in Japanese.

The former Cavaliers player is philanthropic and has set up the Alex Kirk foundation to raise awareness about the importance of physical activity for boys and girls.

Rachael Adams was born on June 3, 1990, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to former American basketball player Rich Adams and Robin Mealy – Adams. However, the Olympian’s parents are now divorced.

Rich played as the center and forward with the University of Illinois varsity for four years and averaged 5.1 points as a freshman. The following year, he increased his points to 15.9.

In the 1978 NBA Draft, the volleyball player’s father was picked up by the San Antonio Spurs in the fourth round. However, he couldn’t make it to the big leagues and instead played in the Western Basketball Association from 1978-79.

Like Rachael’s husband, her father also briefly played in the Philippines and Dubai for the Emirates Sports Club.

The Olympic Medalist is an only child and considers her mother her best friend.

When Rachael made it to the USA Volleyball team in 2016 for the Rio De Janerio Olympics, her mother, Robin, was not financially capable of traveling and seeing her daughter play.

However, she was persistent and started a crowdfunding page to raise money for the trip. She said, “No matter what has happened — through my life, or personality that has set me back – (nothing has) stopped me from being there to support Rachael and to be there when it counted.”

Rachael has also openly talked about her struggles with racial hair trauma and the Stigma surrounding it. When Rachael was young, her nana (grandmother) used to press her hair straight with a hot iron brush.

The volleyball player faced a lot of difficulties in embracing her natural hair. However, she now encourages young black girls to be proud of their beautiful hair and heritage.

She said, “For as long as I can remember, my hair was forced into submission to be straight, presentable, and accepted, and 4 years ago, I started the journey to grow my natural hair out…..So at age 28, I saw my natural hair texture for the first time, and it was the most freeing experience.”

Her primary source of income comes from playing volleyball. The Cincinnati native Olympian earns money through her website, social media advertisements, and brand deals.

In 2014, Adams won gold at the FIVB World Championship with Team USA. Subsequently, in 2016, the FIVB champion won bronze at the 2016 Rio Olympics as part of the United States women’s national volleyball team.

Similarly, she won gold at the 2016 FIVB World Championship with her Turkish team Eczacıbaşı Dynavit.

The bronze medalist Olympian has played for many European Leagues, including Italy, Turkey, Poland, and Brazil. Foreign volleyball players like Rachael earn more due to a limited foreign quota and scarce local talent.
