Why Did Randy Jones Shoot A Police Officer?
Adeed Fayaz was a victim in Jones’s carefully planned robbery.
Jones posted an ad on Facebook Marketplace for a second-hand Honda Pilot and invited prospective buyers to inspect the car.
Adeed, keen to buy a car, went to look at it with a relative. The officer was off-duty when he went to purchase the vehicle with $24,000 in cash.
Prosecutors stated that Jones’s choice of car indicated that he was targeting medium-income, hardworking families.
Jones was not aware that Fayaz was a cop and put him in a headlock in an attempt to force him to hand over his money.
When Fayaz broke free, Jones realized his plan wouldn’t work and shot him in the head before fleeing the crime scene in a BMW.
