Randy Jones Arrested For Killing NYPD Officer

Randy Jones was arrested on Monday, February 6, 2023.

He was detained through a joint effort between NYPD officers and the U.S. Marshalls.

Randy Jones, 38, does not have a clean record – he has previous charges of strangulation and some minor offenses.

Jones appeared before a judge in Brooklyn Criminal Court on Wednesday, February 8.

If he is convicted, Randy will face a lifetime in prison with no chance of parole.

Randy’s case will have another hearing on Friday, February 10.

Officers found Randy in a surprisingly short time and took him into custody with the dead officer’s handcuffs.

The Chief of Detectives, James Essig, said they wanted Jones to understand what he did to the officer and believed using his handcuffs would send a powerful message.

Why Did Randy Jones Shoot A Police Officer?

Adeed Fayaz was a victim in Jones’s carefully planned robbery.

Jones posted an ad on Facebook Marketplace for a second-hand Honda Pilot and invited prospective buyers to inspect the car.

Adeed, keen to buy a car, went to look at it with a relative. The officer was off-duty when he went to purchase the vehicle with $24,000 in cash.

Prosecutors stated that Jones’s choice of car indicated that he was targeting medium-income, hardworking families.

Jones was not aware that Fayaz was a cop and put him in a headlock in an attempt to force him to hand over his money.

When Fayaz broke free, Jones realized his plan wouldn’t work and shot him in the head before fleeing the crime scene in a BMW.

Amid the statewide manhunt, Jones was on the run with his girlfriend and five children, two of whom are his.

Who Was Officer Adeed Fayaz?

Officer Adeed Fayaz was a respected Police officer serving in the NYPD’s 66th precinct.

Fayaz had served for five years before his ***** and was an active member of the Muslim Officers Society.

The NYPD officer lived in Deer Park, Long Island, and was twenty-six years old.

According to a grieving cousin, Fayaz was married and had two kids, both toddlers.

The NYPD stated that it was heartbreaking to give the news to his family and to tell the kids that their father wouldn’t be coming back.

Farrukh, Fayaz’s cousin, stated that the slain cop was humble and easygoing.

Farruk looked up to Adeed and said he wanted to become a cop like him.

“There’s definitely an empty spot now,” said Farrukh in an interview with New York Daily News.

Fayaz’s bereaved family has arranged a viewing at Al-Rayaan Muslim Funeral Services.
