As mentioned earlier, U.S. Supreme Court put a hold on Glossip’s 18 May execution. The halt came after Oklahoma’s attorney general requested an extraordinary plea to stop.
The attorney general said Richard Glossip’s execution would have been an unthinkable error. Richard Glossip was given his last three meals – a Baconater sandwich, fries from Wendy’s, and pizza from Domino’s – that he split with his guards. But he stayed away from execution every time.
While the judges evaluate his plea for them to take up his case formally, the emergency halt on his execution will remain in effect.
There were no vocal disagreements with Friday’s ruling. Justice Neil Gorsuch was absent in Friday’s decision.
Glossip has defended his innocence after being found guilty of capital murder in 1998 for ordering the death of his boss.
The key witness for the prosecution, the alleged accomplice of Glossip who committed the murder, had given false testimony, according to a review initiated by Oklahoma’s Republican attorney general.
The attorney general also discovered that prosecutors didn’t disclose evidence to Glossip that they were required to produce.
Glossip has been close to death multiple times, including months after the Supreme Court’s 2015 decision when state officials abruptly stopped the execution due to concerns about the drugs they were about to use.

The prisoner’s first marriage was with Lelgha Joy Jurasik at the Oklahoma State Penitentiary. The former couple got married on 27 September 2018 and divorced in February 2021.
Before that, Glossip had a relationship with Melissa Ratliff, who contacted him in 2015. Their bond ended in January 2021. Richard doesn’t have a kid.
