Roberto Martinez Decision Has Nothing To Do With His Team Elimination From World Cup

According to ESPN, the head coach told the news conference that that was his last game with the national team.

When asked to clarify his decision, the talented coach said his relationship with Belgium was set to end even if they were the world champion.

He added, “it has nothing to do with being eliminated at this stage.” Martinez disclosed he made his decision before the World Cup.

The coach joined Belgium in May 2016. He guided the so-called “golden generation” to a third-place finish in the 2018 World Cup and reached the quarterfinal in the Euro 2020.

Furthermore, the Roya Belgian FA (RBFA) said in a statement that they were very dissatisfied after the early exit and thereby let down the people of their country who supported the team throughout their journey.

Roberto Martinez was congratulated for everything he accomplished with the Golden Generation during his four years as a coach and technical director by Peter Bossaert, the CEO of Belgian Soccer Federation.

He continued by saying that the coach left an enormous legacy for future Belgian 

The Belgium national team forward Michy Batshuayi revealed that Roberto was emotional while informing the squad about his decision.
