Ronda Jean Rousey is an American professional wrestler, actress, former judoka, and mixed martial artist. She signed with WWE, where she performs on the Raw brand.

Before joining WWE, she was known for her time in the UFC. Ronda began her mixed martial arts career in 2011. She stopped competing in MMA in 2016.

The judoka became the first female fighter inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2018.

Regarding her Ethnicity, Ronda Rousey is English, Polish, and through her maternal grandfather Trinidadian, Venezuelan, and Canadian ancestry.

One of her maternal great-grandfathers was a Trinidadian doctor who moved to Canada and became one of the first Black Physicians in North America.

Ronda’s maternal great-grandmother was born in Caracas, Venezuela.

Rousey was born into a Roman Catholic family. So it confirms that the WWE star is a Christian.

Meet Ronda Rousey Family

Rousey’s father’s name is Ronald John Rousey. She was named after her father.

Her mother’s name is AnnMaria De Mars. She is an American technology Executive, author, and judoka. She is the first American to win a gold medal at the World Judo Championships.

When Ronda was eight years, her father, who broke his back while sledding with his kids, committed suicide.

The wrestler’s mother remarried to an aerospace engineer after her husband died in 1995.

AnnMaria pursued a Ph.D. in educational psychology at the University of California, Riverside. 

Rousey has a younger sister Julia De Mars, and two older sisters, Maria Burns-Ortiz and Jennifer Rousey.

The champion was born with her umbilical cord wrapped around her neck, which led to apraxia.

When she was three years, her parents moved from California to North Dakota to obtain intensive speech therapy with specialists.

She was raised between Jamestown and Southern California.

Rousey began judo with her mother at the age of 11.

In April 2006, she became the first female U.S. judoka to win an A-Level tournament in nearly ten years and claimed gold at the Birmingham World Cup in Great Britain.

She made her mixed martial arts debut in 2010 by defeating Hayden Munoz in 23 seconds.

She made her Strikeforce debut on August 12, 2011, winning against Sarah in the opening frame.

Likewise, she has also appeared in several films, including Entourage, The Expendables 3, and Furious 7.

Besides, she has also acted in some TV series such as Drunk History, Saturday Night Live, Blindspot, and others.

With the approval and blessings of the professional wrestler late Roddy Piper, she uses his nickname “Rowdy” she sets off on an unstoppable winning streak.

She defeated Alexa Bliss at SummerSlam 2018 to win the Raw Women’s Championship and successfully defended her title against all the comers.

Rousey experienced her first loss in the women’s WrestleMania and returned to her winning form at the 2022 Royal Rumble by winning the match.
