The University confirmed Ryan Keeler’s demise on Instagram. Moreover, the UNLV community is pouring the passing of the football student-athlete.

As for the death cause, UNLV didn’t mention the cause in the news release. Thus, what killed Ryan Keeler’s is still a mystery. No major media outlets have reported what happened to the young footballer.

It is heartbreaking to learn that the world has been robbed of such a talented youth. The Las Vegas Review-Journal first reported the young athlete’s death.

The Chicago native completed his high school education at Nazareth Academy. He played football at the high school under the coach of Tim Racki.

As a sophomore, he assisted Nazareth to a 2018 Class 7A Illinois state championship.

Rivals ranked him as the No. 13 player in Illinois, and 247 Sports ranked him the No. 18 player. After Nazareth, Keeler enrolled at Rutgers University but transferred to UNLV before last season.

Keeler appeared in seven games as a redshirt freshman last season. The talented student-athlete earned his first start against Air Force in October, finishing with seven tackles and a sack.

Ryan was pursuing his degree in a pre-business and was recognized as an Academic All-Mountain West honoree with a 3.80 GPA.

Tributes For Ryan Keeler Are Flooded On Social Media

Many have paid tribute after the sad news of Ryan Keeler’s demise.

In a statement, the head coach Barry Odom said, “We are devastated to have lost a member of our Rebel family.” The University hired Barry Odom as football head coach in December 2022.

“Even though I only had the pleasure of getting to know Ryan briefly, our coaching staff immediately recognized him as a fantastic guy, student, and teammate. We send Ryan’s family our condolences and prayers as we mourn this tragic loss with them.”

The former UNLV defensive line coach, Bajoy Filimoeutu, also paid his tribute, saying, “my heart hurts with the loss of Ryan Keeler.” He said Keeler was a great young man and one of the hardest workers he had ever coached.

“I will cherish the moments we had together forever. My prayers are with your family and teammates,” added Filimoeutu.

Likewise, his high school football and Rutgers football also expressed sadness via social media posts.

Ryan Keeler was born in 2003 in Chicago, Illinois. Regarding his parents and other family members, there are no details. Might his family still reside in Chicago?
