However, their marriage soon came under the scanner of the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS), who suspected that Haider was an ISI agent and had ulterior motives to enter India.
They also questioned the authenticity of Meena’s documents and Aadhaar card, which showed him as a Hindu. The ATS detained Haider and her children and interrogated them for several days.
They also arrested two brothers from Bulandshahr who allegedly helped them obtain fake documents. Haider denied any involvement with ISI and claimed that she was only a housewife who loved Meena.
She also filed a mercy petition with the President of India, requesting to stay in India with her husband and children.
She said that she feared for her life if she returned to Pakistan, where her family and community would not accept her.
However, before her petition could be heard, tragedy struck. On November 20, 2023, Meena was shot dead by unidentified gunmen near his house in the Rabupura area of Greater Noida.

Sachin was rushed to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries. The police have registered a case of murder and are investigating the incident.
They have not ruled out the possibility of a hate crime or a conspiracy by ISI or other enemies of Haider.
