Sandra Cantu, from Tracy, California, was reported missing on 27 March 2009.
After playing at a friend’s house, the 8-year-old girl didn’t return from dinner. She lived with her mother, grandparents, and three elder siblings.
Also, the victim was a student at Melville S. Jacobson Elementary School (second grade).
Despite extensive searches involving police dogs, equestrian teams, and helicopters, no trace of her was found at her home complex.
Surveillance footage showed her crossing the street before disappearing from view. The FBI was called in to assist, and a $22,000 reward was offered.

Tragically, on 6 April, Sandra’s body was found in a suitcase during a routine pond draining.
