Immediately after, she was arrested and found guilty of murder, and the court sentenced her to life imprisonment.
So, the killer Yolanda Saldiva has not been released till now, and she has probably been inside the prison since 1995.
But during a sentence to life imprisonment, she is eligible for parole after thirty years, which means she will become eligible for parole on March 30, 2025.
According to the news, she has been working at the prison, and her prison job is to pass out food trays from a cart to other offenders in her cell area.

Selena agreed to meet Saldívar at a Days Inn motel in Corpus Christi to retrieve financial records; just a week ago, Saldívar was fired from work because of a financial-related problem in the club.
After meeting at the hotel, she took out the gun from her purse and shot her. The singer tried to escape, but the killer shot her from the back, and she collapsed on the floor.

Yolanda Saldíva was found guilty of first-degree murder in a Texas courtroom after a jury deliberated for only two hours.
She was sentenced to life imprisonment and will probably be in prison until she dies.
It took 10 hours before Police could arrest Saldívar, sitting in her pickup truck in the motel carpark in a tense stand-off.
Within three days of investigation and court documents, she was sentenced. It was clear that she was the killer.
The reason behind the killing of the singer was not disclosed, but her parents mentioned that Saldívar was fired just a week ago because she did some time with the club’s financial money.
Hopefully, she will not attempt anything illegal after she is out for parole in 2025.
