The track and field star Sha’Carri shared photos and videos claiming she was removed from an American Airlines plane following an argument with a flight attendant.
The 22-year-old athlete posted the footage on her official Instagram with 2.2 million followers on 21 January 2023. The video starts with Richardson talking directly to the camera.
She said she was not working today; vacation time. It is unclear where the runner was flying to. A second later, she moves her camera to a nearby flight attendant, who can be seen backing away.

The flight attendant appears to be requested to put down her phone. Then, Sha’Carri said she was recording herself, and he jumped into her video, so she caught him.
She then told the flight attendant he was harassing her and requested to stop. It is unknown what happened between them before the video was recorded.
Afterward, another flight attendant can be heard requesting the athlete to stop recording.
Richardson made it clear that she would not stop recording as she made a video to herself. She also said the footage would show the flight attendants’ actions.
Sha’Carri said that she was then removed from the flight. A representative for American Airlines said in a statement: “We rebooked the customer on a later flight, and a member of our staff has contacted them to learn more,” reported NBC News.

The track and field sprinter later shared a longer video on the same day, which shows the moment before crew members asked her to leave.
The footage shows Richardson saying, “I obviously would have listened to directions, but the way he was talking to me was incredibly unprofessional. Sha’Carri also claimed that the crew member’s hands were all in her face.
While the track and field star was talking with a fellow passenger, someone approached her and told her to leave. When Richardson asked why, the person said, “the captain wants you off the plane.”
Soon after, she gathers her belongings and gets off the plane.
In the caption, the athlete asked if it would be wrong to pursue legal action against the airline. She claimed that she felt threatened.
Sha’Carri Richardson Tokyo Olympics Suspension
In 2021, Richardson qualified for the Tokyo Olympics. The urine test’s positive result for the chemical in cannabis, THC, followed her suspension.
She agreed to a one-month suspension from the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA), which will start on 28 June 2021, after satisfactorily completing a therapy program.
Despite being eligible, she missed the Olympic 100 meters as her suspension ended on 27 July 2021. She claimed that she took drugs while mourning her mother’s death and to cope with the pressure of qualifying for the Olympics.
