He served as the Iraq Inquiry’s head of communications and Nick Clegg’s press secretary while the Lib Dem politician was deputy prime minister.
He founded Ashburn Fleming Communications Consulting in 2020 and served as its managing director until quitting his job early two years later owing to “ill-health,” as he stated on LinkedIn.

The star’s former coworker Stephen Jardine verified the sad news of Rae’s passing on Tuesday morning.
Broadcaster Stephen Jardine shared the news on Twitter and expressed his sorrow over his loss and his sympathies to the survivors of his late closest friend.
“Rae Stewart passed away after a battle with illness,” people said. He stated in his post that the man was only 56.
Rae was an accomplished journalist, novelist, husband, parent, and friend. He was also a proud son of Tain. Our thoughts are with him and his cherished family today.
Editor of STV News Nichola Kane expressed her anguish over the news, saying: “Awful, awful news.
It was great working with Rae. Despite never taking himself too seriously, he was always professional. A true gentleman and a lot of fun.
