Stephanie Melgoza is a former Bradley student whose name came into the media prominence following the death of two people named Andrea Rosewicz and Paul Prowant.
Melgoza fatally struck these people outside a bar in East Peoria on April 10, 2022, when she was speeding three times more than the legal limit after a night of drinking.
When the news of two people’s death was shared, every of her family members was shattered. The case was going on, and Melgoza was recently sentenced to 14 years in prison.

Stephanie Melgoza’s crime scene photos are going viral as a Police body camera footage was shared where we can see Melgoza smiling, laughing, and singing after authorities told her she killed two people in a fatal crash.
The chilling video showed Melgoza telling the officer she had been drinking vodka and that she also had cannabis in her bag, which she had not used.
East Peoria officer found her to be three times more than the legal limit during tests which she laughed through before being arrested. In the footage, a Police officer also showed Melgoza’s badly damaged car.

Stephanie Melgoza Arrested and Charged For Killing 2
On April 10, 2022, Stephanie Melgoza killed a couple, Andrea Rosewicz and Paul Prowant from Lorain County in East Peoria, after she hit them with her Dodge Dart at 10 pm.
Reportedly, the duo were trying to cross the street when Melgoza hit them. When officers reached the scene, they said that Melgoza showed visible signs of impairment.
Family members of the victims criticized Melgoza, saying it was her determination and hers alone to drink and drive that night. Likewise, they wanted the maximum sentence of 28 years behind bars for Melgoza, saying it was necessary to protect the public.
During the recent court appearance, the victims’ relatives also held up pictures for Melgoza and Cusack to see, reminding everyone of the accident’s human cost.
Moreover, Stephanie pleaded guilty to two counts, each of aggravated DUI and aggravated reckless driving and was sentenced to 14 years in prison.

Where Is Stephanie Melgoza Now?
Stephanie Melgoza has been slapped with 14 years behind bars. She was given credit for about four months she spent in House confinement and two days already spent in custody.
With that and the requirement that Melgoza serves at least 85% of her sentence, Melgoza could get out of prison in about 11 1/2 years.
For your information, aggravated DUI carries a mandatory prison of three to 14 years, and Melgoza killed two people; she faced up to 28 years behind bars.
Tazewell County Judge Tim Cusack could have charged a term of probation, but Melgoza had to have shown exceptional circumstances why she should not go to jail.
During the court appearance when she was charged, Melgoza tearfully turned to the families of victims and repeatedly said she was sorry.
