On February 7, 2023, bodybuilding champion Rachel McLish shared a Facebook post confirming Tonya Knight’s ***** and painful struggle with Cancer and tributing her friend.
Rachel recalled Tonya’s struggle; surprisingly, she did not reveal her illness openly and wrote “c,” which made readers speculate she died of Cancer.

Tonya Knight married the late Bodybuilder John Poteat and had a son named Malachi.
