After leaving the NFL, the former free safety met the Norco High School team’s head coach while picking up his younger brother after practice. Dye was hired as the Norco team’s defensive coordinator and stayed there for four years.

He subsequently accepted a one-year position as defensive coordinator at San Bernardino Valley College. He most recently worked as a coaching fellow for the San Francisco 49ers.

The Minnesota Vikings drafted Troy in the fourth round (132nd overall) of the 2020 NFL Draft. On September 24, 2020, he was placed on the injured list and activated on October 31, 2020.
