Mario Bautista, an American mixed martial artist, was born on July 1, 1993, in Winnemucca, Nevada.

He began wrestling when he was 14 years old. Later, he relocated to Arizona and joined MMA Lab, where John Crouch was his trainer.

He competed in numerous regional promotions, including Tachi Palace Fights and Combate Americas, and made his professional MMA debut in 2017.

The Nevada-born fighter competed in his first UFC fight against Cory Sandhagen on January 19, 2019, at UFC Fight Night. By way of first-round submission, he was defeated.

On July 20, 2019, at dos Anjos vs. Edwards: UFC on ESPN, he recovered unanimously over Jin Soo Son.

Then, in 2020 and 2021, he defeated Miles Johns and Trevin Jones in back-to-back knockout victories. The wins earned him two Performance of the Night awards.

Cody Garbrandt and Bautista were scheduled to square off on August 19, 2023, at UFC 292. However, Garbrandt withdrew a week ahead of the match due to an injury.

Da’Mon Blackshear, whose most recent fight at UFC on ESPN a week prior between Luque and dos Anjos, took Garbrandt’s spot. Mario won the fight.
