On Tuesday, July 25, 2023, a tragic accident occurred on Illinois Route 130, just north of Villa Grove, resulting in the loss of a valuable life.
The Illinois State Police have identified the victim as Phyllis Webster, a 69-year-old woman from Urbana.
The crash took place at 8:30 a.m. and involved multiple vehicles, leading to at least one fatality and injuries to others.
Phyllis Webster was driving her Maserati Q4 northbound on Route 130 when the collision occurred.
According to the authorities, a Toyota Camry traveling eastbound on County Road 220 North collided with her vehicle.
According to authorities, the vehicle was ignoring a stop sign and failed to yield at the crossroads.
Both cars veered into a roadside ditch due to the impact of the crash. Tragically, Phyllis Webster was pronounced dead at the scene.
In the meantime, the driver of the Toyota Camry, Alexis Puetz, 20, of Champaign, was injured and was brought to a local hospital for treatment.
The accident scene remained active for several hours, and authorities had to close Route 130 to manage the situation and investigate the incident thoroughly.
