The director of Belarus Free Theatre, Mikalai Khalezin, alleged that Makei was behind attempts to discredit his theater because of Khalezin’s anti-Lukashenko activities. Pavel Latushko, a former ambassador to France and Poland, asserted that Makei had voiced anti-Russian sentiments in front of American and European diplomats. Vladimir Makei Friendly Approach To Ukraine

According to his official biography on the foreign ministry website, Makei was born in the Grodno area of Belarus in 1958.

He received his diploma at the Minsk State Pedagogical Institute of Foreign Languages in 1980.

Before becoming the President of Belarus’s assistant, he served in the Armed Forces of the USSR and Belarus from 1980 until 1993. He oversaw the President of Belarus’s Administration from 2008 to 2012.

Since August 22, 2012, Vladimir Makei has served as the country of Belarus’s minister of foreign affairs. He had the title of Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador.

Makei reiterated that no one would ****** Ukraine from Belarusian soil in the days before Russia’s incursion in February.
