Gareth Bale Announces Retirement from International Football

Gareth Bale, a professional footballer from Wales, made his retirement from club and international competition official on January 9, 2023.

He began his professional career at Southampton as winger, He is revered as one of the all-time great wingers and a significant player in Welsh football history.

Throughout his career, Bale has won various honors, including six Welsh Footballer of the Year awards, the Carwyn James Award, and the Football League Young Player of the Year.

Bale helped Wales, which had not qualify in the FIFA World Cup for 64 years, qualify for the event in 2022. In 111 national team appearances, he scored 41 goals.

After 650 games for club and country, he announced his decision on retirement, saying it was "by far the hardest decision of my career."

He played for Real Madrid, where he won five Champions League trophies and three La Liga crowns, and Tottenham before joining with MLS franchise Los Angeles FC
