Jewish community organizations reacted negatively to the Krewe of Endymion's revelation that Mel Gibson would co-marshal a forthcoming parade.

Due to "threats" over his participation, Mel Gibson will no longer participate in a forthcoming Mardi Gras parade in the U.S.

The organizations note in the statement that Mel Gibson "has a lengthy history of spewing antisemitic, racist, and sexist remarks."

Even if the Actor has made feeble attempts to repent for his statements over the years

There is still a great deal of suffering linked with his name and significant wounds in the Jewish community from those disputes that may never completely heal.

"We believe his selection as Grand Marshal of Endymion to be completely offensive and naive given his history of inciting antisemitism and other types of hatred."

Gibson has already faced numerous accusations of anti-Semitic behavior, including Winona Ryder's claim that he allegedly questioned her about being an "oven dodger."

Gibson allegedly yelled antisemitic epithets at the arresting officer in 2006 following a DUI arrest.

The Actor apologized and expressed his "deep shame" for his actions during the incident, for which he was charged with misdemeanor drunken driving.
