Modest Mouse's founding drummer, Jeremiah Green, has died at age 45

Jeremiah Green, the founding drummer for the rock band Modest Mouse, has died.

The band announced that Green had been diagnosed with Cancer just days before his death.

A statement from the band on social media said Green "simply faded out" and added that he was "about love."

Green was in his teens when he joined Modest Mouse, which originated in Seattle, and later moved to Portland.

The band's name comes from a passage by Virginia Woolf.

 "Good News for People Who Love Bad News," and the singles "Float On" and "Ocean Breathes Salty."

Modest Mouse debuted in 1996 and gained critical and mainstream success with their fourth album, 

Green had a breakdown around the time of "Good News for People Who Love Bad News" and briefly left the band,

but returned for more recent albums, including "Strangers to Ourselves" and "The Golden Casket," released in 2021.
