Henry Cavil will not return as Clark Kent/Superman for the new DC Universe that James Gunn and Peter Safran lead.

Henry Cavill, 39, was planning on coming back as Superman on the big screen after his secretive cameo in Warner Bros.' Black Adam.

However, that was before James Gunn and Peter Safran were brought on as the new heads of DC Films.

and 2017's Justice League - took to Instagram on Wednesday to reveal the news to his 22.9 million followers.

The Actor - who played Superman in 2013's Man of Steel, 2016's Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, 

"I just met with James Gunn and Peter Safran, and it's sad news, everyone. I will, after all, not be returning as Superman," Cavill said

According to reports, Gunn and Safran are supposed to pitch their plan for the DC Extended Universe and beyond this week to Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav.
