Thomas Müller is a German-born professional football player who competes for the German national team and the Bundesliga club Bayern Munich.

Müller is a versatile player who has played both centers forward and either wing in addition to offensive midfield and second striker.

Müller grew up playing at TSV Pähl, and in 2000, at age 10, he traveled 50 kilometers to join the local Bundesliga team Bayern Munich.

Müller made his reserve team debut for Bayern Munich in March 2008. He continued to play for the under-19 squad throughout the season, making a few more appearances.

Müller earned his full first-team debut the following year by replacing Miroslav Klose in the dying seconds of a Bundesliga game against Hamburger SV.

Müller won the German Super Cup to kick off the 2016–17 Campaign. He had trouble the rest of the season, too, and only managed five goals in 29 Bundesliga appearances.

The following year, Müller improved with 15 goals. He earned his fifth DFB-Pokal and eighth Bundesliga championship in 2018–19.

Müller was picked to be a member of Germany’s 23-man World Cup roster the following year. He then started Germany’s opening match of the season and scored his first goal for his country in a 4-0 triumph over Australia.

The 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil marked Müller’s biggest triumph on the international level. He scored three goals in a hat-trick against Portugal to start the tournament well.

In the following games, Müller continued to play well; one of his high points was in the semifinal against Brazil, where he scored the first goal in Brazil’s historic 7-1 defeat. Notably, his goal was the 2,000th overall for Germany.

Müller participated in the entire game’s 120 minutes as Germany defeated Argentina 1-0. As the second-highest goal scorer in the competition, he received the Silver Boot.

Müller competed for Germany in his later international competitions, including the Euro 2016 and 2020 and the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
