According to the sources, Walsh has received an offer to lead the NHL Players’ Association. His departure will likely be made public on Tuesday night, following Vice President Biden’s State of the Union address.
The departure will be a first for a Cabinet that has been remarkably stable during Biden’s first two years in office. Still, it also occurs when officials note that any administration has historically experienced high levels of turnover.
Biden will need another crucial advisor and liaison to one of his most significant constituencies: unions, as a result of Walsh’s decision, the former mayor of Boston.
