Hiam Abbass, a Palestinian actress, and film director, was once married to the French actor Zinedine Soualem and divorced.

The film director follows the Muslim religion as she was born in Nazareth, Israel, to a Muslim Arab family and raised in the village of Deir Hanna.

Since the late 1980s, the actress has lived in Paris and holds French citizenship. Zinedine Soualem, the actor, was born on April 17, 1957.
