In a tearful press appearance at the headquarters of the WA Police, Mr. Glennon also used the occasion to harshly criticize some media coverage of the murder of his daughter.

More Details On This Case

Justice Stephen Hall of the Supreme Court found Bradley Robert Edwards guilty of the murders of Jane Rimmer, 23, and Ciara Glennon, 27 but cleared him of the murder of 18-year-old secretary Sarah Spiers.

Between 1996 and 1997, all three women disappeared while having fun on nights out in the affluent Perth suburb of Claremont.

Sarah’s bones have never been discovered, while Ciara and Jane’s were eventually found in a rural area outside the city.

Because Sarah’s case lacked the forensic evidence—most importantly, the DNA and fibers—that connected the former Telstra technician to the first two women, Justice Hall ruled that the prosecution had failed to establish Sarah’s guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

Instead, the judge’s phrase that Bradley Edwards was Sarah Spiers’ “probable killer” must be accepted by her family as a bittersweet concession.

In addition to the two murders, the 51-year-old will be sentenced in December for the 1995 rape of another teenager at Karrakatta Cemetery and an earlier assault on a youngster in Huntingdale. Sarah’s case is still active at the moment.
