Wood County Common Pleas Judge Joel Kuhlman handed down sentences on Thursday for five former fraternity brothers who were found guilty of hazing Stone Foltz at Bowling Green State University.
Daylen Dunson, 22, of Cleveland, previously entered pleas of guilty to eight counts of hazing, seven counts of violating underage alcohol laws, and one count of obstructing official business, all of which are misdemeanors.
He also previously admitted guilt to three third-degree felonies: reckless homicide, tampering with evidence, and obstructing justice.
Dunson presided over the Pi Kappa Alpha International fraternity’s (PIKE) Bowling Green chapter.
Early in 2021, Foltz—a 20-year-old sophomore from Delaware, Ohio—rushed the fraternity.
Foltz took part in a “Big Little Night” initiation ceremony on March 4, 2021, as part of the pledge procedure, and he consumed a liter of Evan Williams bourbon there.
He passed away from lethal alcohol consumption a few days later.
Foltz’s father, Cory, pleaded with the judge in an emotional statement to give the defendants the harshest punishment permitted by Ohio law.
Pi Kappa Alpha decided to halt recruitment across the country for the Spring 2021 semester in response to Foltz’s passing.
Additionally, the fraternity decided to withdraw the charter of the Delta Beta Chapter and expel all of its current members.
Criminal Cases on Stone Foltz Case
Foltz’s ***** drew charges against eight individuals.
Troy Henricksen and Jacob Krinn, who were once brothers of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity, were put on trial in May 2022.
A jury found Krinn guilty of hazing, providing alcohol to a minor, and impeding the administration of justice.
Henricksen was found guilty of seven counts of providing alcohol to an underage person and eight counts of hazing.
The most serious allegations against the former fraternity brothers in relation to Foltz’s ***** were dropped.
Judge Joel Kuhlman of the Wood County Common Pleas Court sentenced Krinn and Henricksen to a total of 42 days in jail and an additional 28 days of house arrest.
Additionally, both men received a two-year probationary period and 100 hours of community service. The start of their prison terms was Wednesday.
