Chamberlin attended University High School in Spokane Valley and received his diploma there in 1988. He was then awarded a football scholarship for the University of Puget Sound.
After completing his BA in Economics in 1992, he joined the Okanogan County Sheriff’s Office.
Three years with OCSO later, he transferred to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, where he used his “Ask Deputy Craig” segments on the news to interact with the public and conduct outreach.

After 25 years as a deputy, Chamberlin decided to try a new career path and joined SERVPRO of Spokane County, a Company specializing in restoring Fire, water, and mold damage.
According to his family, “he was known and loved by so many,” and “this is just as devastating and shocking to you all as it is to us.”
