On social media, Cleveland Browns defensive end Chris Smith paid tribute to his girlfriend, who died in a vehicle accident on Wednesday, stating, “God has a plan for all of us that we can’t understand.”
Petara Cordero was killed when she was hit by a car while the two were stopped for a blown tire. On Friday, Smith posted photographs and footage of Cordero to his Instagram account.
Smith just announced the arrival of their daughter Haven Harris Smith with another photo of Cordero.
According to the Cleveland Browns, Cordero, 26, and Smith pulled over to the side of I-90 West in Cleveland at 2 am. Wednesday after a tire on Smith’s 2019 Lamborghini exploded.
The automobile lurched left and slammed the median, but she escaped unharmed.
A woman in a 2017 Mazda 3 then hit the passenger side of the car and Cordero, who was standing on the shoulder, according to Cleveland Police in a statement to CNN.
Soon later, Police and paramedics arrived on the scene.
Cordero was rushed to the hospital and pronounced dead. The driver of the second automobile was also brought to the hospital and later released.

Smith’s fiancée, the mother of his daughter, was murdered in a vehicle accident in 2019, not long after she gave birth. The cause of Smith’s death is unknown at this time.
