Why did Troy Aikman Retire? Troy is an American former quarterback who spent 12 seasons with the Dallas Cowboys in the National Football League (NFL).
He played collegiate football at UCLA after leaving Oklahoma, earning the Davey O’Brien Award as a senior.
Aikman was chosen first overall by the Cowboys in the 1989 NFL Draft. While playing for them, he was picked for six Pro Bowls and won three Super Bowls.

Why Did Troy Aikman Retire?

Aikman continued by saying that Norv Turner, the head coach of the San Diego Chargers at the time, assisted him in considering the offer.
Ultimately, he decided against being forced onto the field in subfreezing conditions and favored decent weather and personal safety.
He claimed that his choice had worked out well for both sides.

On March 16, 2022, ESPN declared that Buck and Aikman would join the network as the new lead analysts of Monday Night Football after 20 seasons as Fox’s lead broadcast duo.
Aikman and his partner Joe Buck were overheard on a hot mic debating whether a military flyover was necessary before a 2020 NFL game between the Packers and Buccaneers in Tampa when only 15,000 spectators were permitted inside Raymond James Stadium.
That’s a lot of jet fuel only to do a quick flyover, to quote Aikman, and “That stuff ain’t happening with a Kamala-Biden ticket, I’ll tell you that right now, pal,” are two more notable quotes from him.
Later, a spokeswoman for the military claimed that the flyovers were free of charge. In the meantime, Buck and Aikman were accused of lacking patriotism.
However, in 1992–1993—his first season without an injury—Aikman led the group to a Super Bowl triumph as the Cowboys defeated the Buffalo Bills.
The team also contained running back Emmitt Smith and receiver Michael Irvin. The game’s Most Valuable Player award went to Aikman.
The Cowboys defended their championship in 1994 by playing the Bills in the Super Bowl.

Aikman dated country singer Lorrie Morgan, who was once ranked the most eligible bachelor in Dallas by Texas Monthly.
On April 8, 2000, in Plano, Texas, he wed Rhonda Worthey, a former publicist for the Cowboys. Rachel is the name of Worthey’s daughter from a previous marriage.

Aikman announced his Instagram engagement to high-end clothing retailer Catherine “Capa” Mooty on June 2, 2017.
