Canada-born Jonathan Bryan Toews plays center for the Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League (NHL) and serves as its captain.
The Blackhawks selected “Captain Serious” Toews as the third overall choice in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.
He joined the squad in 2007–08, and as the NHL Rookie of the Year, he was nominated for the Calder Memorial Trophy.
He was made the team captain the following year, making him the second-youngest captain in NHL history.

According to general manager Kyle Davidson, the team’s longstanding center, which turns 35 on April 29, will not be re-signed.
“I think words fail to adequately summarize everything that Jonathan’s done for the organization, the amazing memories he provided,” added Davidson. “He’ll always be a Blackhawk.”
Chicago’s season finale is against Philadelphia. Toews won his first championship when the Blackhawks defeated the Flyers in the 2010 Stanley Cup Final.
Toews, who has a long history of leadership and two-way play, has 14 goals and 16 assists in 52 games this season. In 1,066 regular-season games, he has 371 goals and 511 assists while playing exclusively for Chicago.
After missing a significant portion of this season due to symptoms, he described as long-term COVID-19 and chronic immune response syndrome, Jonathan Toews, formerly known as “Captain Serious,” may opt to retire.
